Grapevine: Charlie Sheen reportedly has TV show deal
Actor Charlie Sheen has inked a deal with Lionsgate Television for a new sitcom, reports radaronline.com. According to a source to the website, Sheen’s character will be similar to the one he played on “Two and a Half Men” but a lot racier. The source adds the broadcast and cable networks are in a bidding war for the show, with TBS being the frontrunner. Lionsgate Television, which reportedly would produce the sitcom, is committed to 10 episodes with the option to pick up and produce 90 more episodes, depending on ratings. Additionally, Lionsgate Television is supposedly planning to release Sheen’s nationwide live stage performances, “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option,” shows. But details haven’t been provided. Wonder if the tour’s critically panned kickoff in Detroit will be included? Meanwhile, producers over at “Two and a Half Men” are reportedly kicking around the idea of killing Sheen’s character (Charlie Harper) in a car crash, reports TMZ. Actor Ashton Kutcher then would enter the picture as a possible buyer of Harper’s house.
Former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios enjoyed a little late-night batting practice with a star-studded group of friends at Comerica Park Sunday night. In attendance was Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder , who was in town for a Sunday night solo performance at the Fox Theatre, and actor John Cusack . But the event wasn’t just about male bonding. Chelios honored his wife, Tracee, with a sweet personal message posted on the ballpark’s scoreboard that read, “Happy 24th anniversary Tracee, love Chris.” After batting practice, Vedder took time to sign autographs for fans. Earlier that evening, Chelios hosted a fundraiser for the Michigan Humane Society at his Cheli’s Chili Bar in Detroit. Chelios and Vedder are apparently good pals, so much so that the Vedder show featured a poster of Chelios. Mark 5 created the poster, according to the insidetherockposterframe.blogspot.com.
